What a crew is for

A private group you share a code with — for finding each other when a session, a festival or a park gets busy.

  • Put yourself on the crew map. One tap. It stops on its own after 2 hours unless you pick a different length, and you can stop it any time.

  • Ask “where are you?” Your crew mate gets a notification saying it's you asking. One tap from them puts their dot on the map. They can also just not answer.

  • Message your crew. A crew chat everybody sees, or a private message to one person. Handy when a plan changes and a dot on a map can't explain why.

  • Drop a “meet here” pin. Name it something real — “main gate”, “by the taco truck”. It stays put whether or not anybody's phone is out, and clears itself after 12 hours.

  • See how far and which way. “40 m NE”, next to their name. That's worked out on your own phone and never shared with anyone.

  • Text where you are. Uses your own messages app, so it reaches people who don't have Rink Report and works with no data.

  • Invite people. Every crew has a 6-character code and a share link. Whoever created the crew can rename it.

This is for meeting up, not safety. It isn't live tracking — a dot only moves while that person has the app open, which is why asking is how you get a fresh one. Nobody's location can be taken without them seeing the request and agreeing to it.

Messages reach people when they open the app, so don't count on one being read straight away. Anyone can report a message, which hides it and sends it to us.

Roll Safe is the one that alerts your emergency contacts if you don't check in. It works even if your phone is dead or gone.
